Headteacher's Message 31.01.20
It feels as though spring is well and truly on its way with bulbs peeping through and mornings/evenings starting to get a little lighter. Our ‘school value’ for this term is independence (linking with the British value of individual liberty), providing a focus for our assemblies and PSHE lessons. Regarding PSHE, many of you attended the ‘Big Talk’ parents’ session in October where the new relationships, sex and health education statutory guidance (and what it will look like, through using Big talk and developing the curriculum, at Dringhouses going forward) was shared. Your feedback was valuable, with the school reconfiguring the curriculum accordingly. A draft policy will shortly go to full governors, outlining the curriculum, for further discussion. Meanwhile, there are plenty of examples of quality learning taking place across the whole school curriculum with activities based on the stone age, exploring rocks, minerals and fossils, discovering who the next Jackson Pollock will be and celebrating the lunar new year. Finally thank you FODS for facilitating an excellent family games evening. We look forward to more of these!
